One Penkridge household is brightening up the neighbourhood and the lives of local dogs with their festive display which collects for the Sunnyside Dogs Home.

A cast of hundreds make up the display....well almost.
A dog is for life, not just for Christmas as the slogan goes but sadly each year many people forget this and all too many longed-for pets end up abandoned on the streets when realism, vet bills and food costs hit home. The family (who wish to remain anonymous) behind this display are dog lovers and in the past have claimed rescued dogs from Sunnyside Kennels for much loved pets. They wanted to give something back to the home and raise money to improve the lives of the other dogs left in the kennels and this is a way of doing that while also spreading a bit of festive magic to passers-by.
The display started five years ago, but since then has grown year on year to reach the spectacular stage visitors can now see. Its quite a regular seasonal feature in the area now and has been written about in the Cannock Chase Post for the last two years. Next year promises to be bigger and better still.

Snowman bouncers protect the festive scene.
The work that goes into the display is split between the husband and wife team well - the husband designs the lights and wires them all up, and the wife gives the go ahead which sounds like a good distribution of labour to us. The family want to thank all the people that have donated in the past.
Go along, enjoy the front garden packed with yuletide characters, give a little spare change and make a dog happy.

Santa collects money for the dogs.
